Planting design, in Gloucestershire
Prices start from £450, however a bespoke quote will be created to meet your specific needs depending on the scope of the project.
This is for you if:
Your garden works for your lifestyle, but your planting doesn’t suit your current taste and you want to refresh this.
Your current strategy in the garden relies on twice yearly trips to the garden centre where you spend a small fortune on plants that either don’t thrive in your garden, or only last the summer (we have all been here!).
Your garden only looks great for one or two months of the year and you want more variation in your planting to create more interest throughout the year.
You love plants but you are not sure where to start or feel overwhelmed with the choice.
What is included:
A consultation where we will walk around your garden and discuss how you want your outdoor space to look and feel.
We will review the areas of planting you are wanting to refresh, or new areas you are considering adding planting. An analysis of these spaces will be undertaken to ensure that the correct plants will be chosen for each space depending on aspect, lighting, conditions and soil.
Full planting plans will be drawn up for all areas you have identified, this can be one border or your whole garden. These plans are suitable to be given to contractors, or can be used by you to undertake the planting yourself.
Plans will include clear information on what plant goes where, and the exact quantity you need. You can spread the cost and plant in phases as eventual growth will be taken into account with all plans making it adaptable to your budget requirements.
Plans will be carefully curated to ensure that you have colour and interest throughout all seasons.
Mood boards will be created so you know what each plant looks like, alongside images on the style you want to achieve.
You can also choose to add on a maintenance guide to this package to help you care for your new plants. Get in touch for more information.

What it is like to work with me
“ I recently received my planting plans from Jess and I’m delighted with what she has proposed. My brief wasn’t straight forward. I’m a keen and experienced gardener and we’ve lived in our property for over 20 years. for the past 8 years I’ve run my flower growing business from the garden and it has undergone many changes. Although a few years off retirement, I had a garden designer (who subsequently retired) design a garden plan which is my vision of the layout post retirement. My husband and I have very gradually worked to the plan in structural phases as time and budget allowed . However a planting plan was not done at this stage. Retirement is still a couple of years off but I was itching to get a planting plan so I could gradually start propagating plants and collecting more and planting up some areas. That’s where Jess came in and I’m so happy we found her. Not only is she a lovely person but she was also knowledgeable , enthusiastic and professional at every stage. She took great care to understand how we wanted our garden to make us feel when it was finished. Inspired by the Piet Oudolf style of planting we wanted to create a naturalistic garden with swathes of grasses and perennials with blocks of colour so there would always be interest and with attractive seed heads in winter to provide food and shelter for wildlife. I also wanted the opportunity to relocate /reuse some of the perennials already in the garden. Jess was careful to point out the pros and cons of this vision. She was honest and realistic with the lead time and when to expect our plans. She double checked measurements , checked ground conditions and aspects in person so she could recommend suitable plants. She also addressed any queries and discussed mood boards of proposed plants to make sure it was what we had in mind. She was true to her word with timings and presented hard copies of the planting plans in person fully annotated with summary of the plants and quantities in each area of the garden. No dithering on my part, no “plonking” , no wasted/or inappropriate plants.
Having the garden design and planting plan has been money well spent and I’m convinced the garden will provide a wonderful environment to enjoy in the future and will definitely add value to our property too. I can’t wait to get planting.”
